OUR VISION
Making aliyah and drafting together with a close group called "garin" is a old tradition in Israel. Even before the State of Israel was established, young Jews from all around the World came in groups (garin) to build a home for themselves here in Israel.
Maslul Nitzan gives youngsters the opportunity and framework to walk in their footsteps and go through their army service together, supporting each other and enhancing their sense of belonging and collective impact.
In a time where you leave your home-country to start a new life in Israel, it is essential you feel surrounded by other lone soldiers and our staff who are there for you and your group every step of the way.
If you are interested in being part of a group of peers, living, learning and taking your first Israeli steps together... Nitzan is made for you!

A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE
Maslul Nitzan is a program which offers you support and tools to go through your army service in a meaningful way
by creating an exciting framework for you to grow and challenge yourself.
You will receive high-level living conditions, enjoying your own villa with the view on the Kibbutz fields. You will get to know the people living on Kibbutz Gezer, be part of a host family and enjoy one of the best location in the country: right in the middle between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem!

Living all together in the house, being part of a Kibbutz in the center of the country, learning and challenging yourself, going through your army service with friends around to support you... this is the unique NITZAN EXPERIENCE
A SUPPORT SYSTEM
Throughout your service, as a member of Maslul Nitzan, you will go though a life-changing experience, guided by your madrich*a and the Hashomer Hatzair World Movement staff. From the day you register until the day you finish Maslul Nitzan our staff will care for you and guide you through both the administrative and daily life questions.

Maslul Nitzan is a small-size program to ensure you get the best care from our staff in the Kibbutz and in the Movement. We want you to enjoy both the group experience and the space for personal development and personal counseling by our staff.
Our priority is to make things easy and meaningful for you and to make sure you feel supported.

Except for this, all roles are open and we will make eveything in our power to guide you and help you get the most interesting role for you!
-
Do I need to make aliyah to join Maslul Nitzan?Yes, you need to be Israeli by August 1st 2021. The reason is simple: we see Maslul Nitzan as the first steps for young adults who want Israel to be their home and our approach is very clearly to help Olim and Olot to integrate into their new society.
-
In which language will Maslul Nitzan be run?For the first three months of the program, we will be running activities in Hebrew (easy level with translations to English if needed) you will only need a very basic level of Hebrew. Working in the kibbutz, spending time with your host family and having ulpan will help practice and improve your Hebrew. Our staff is international and if you need to speak with someone in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German or Russian there will be no problem at all!
-
What level of Hebrew is requiered for Maslul Nitzan? All levels are welcomed! We are partnering with the innovative Ulpan Integraliah to run personnalized and tailor-made ulpan classes for our participants. If you are a beginner, no worries, we will get you to feel comfortable speaking Hebrew, and you will then join the Michve Alon base which specializes in running intensive Ulpan courses for Olim Chadashim and prepare you to your army service.
-
Does it mean that only people who are affiliated with Hashomer Hatzair can join?OF COURSE NOT! We wanted to offer a meaningful process to our members deciding to make aliyah and joining the IDF, but we want this experience to be shared by as many as possible! If you are looking for a program which focuses on building a united group of peers, learning and challenging yourself through your army service and want to experience Kibbutz life: MASLUL NITZAN IS FOR YOU!
-
How long will soldiers live in Kibbutz Sarid? For the first 4 months + one year from the first day as a soldier you are committing to living in Kibbutz Sarid. After that, you can decide to move out eventhough we would love for you to stay with your group until you get released at the end of your service. The amazingly central location of the kibbutz makes it really easy to go to Tel Aviv or Jerusalem and still enjoy the dreamy Kibbutz life. In case you want to break the contract and leave before the first year of your service ends, the army will continue paying rent to Kibbutz Sarid and you will have to pay your new rent using your own money. We hope Sarid will feel like your home and you will want to stay as long as possible!
-
Why Maslul Nitzan and nothing else?We have a long experience of guiding new immigrants on their first steps in Israel. We believe that group processes are the way to go, to feel supported and to have a meaningful experience with peers to share the everyday life with. We see your army service as a valuable part of your integration into Israeli society and therefore it is essential to go through a learning and debriefing process. We offer an in-depth learning experience, for you to be able to reflect and process your new life as a soldier, question and challenge yourself throughout your service and get to know what Israel is really about from within.
-
What about medical conditions? It is a requirement to send us your medical records before you get accepted. There is no need to hide or lie about pre-existing conditions because we want to support you and help you get the best and most interesting roles in the army, therefore we need to be aware of any pre-existing condition and medication/treatment you currently take.
-
How does a historically leftist movement choose to run a army program?Hashomer Hatzair was created in 1913 in Europe and has been sending groups of young adults to Israel even before the establishment of the State, to build the country, live on Kibbutzim and defend the country when needed. For too many years we have been sitting off to the side, when we should have been taking a stand. The world movement of Hashomer Hatzair rarely dealt with the issue of drafting to the IDF as our bogrim*ot that did choose to make Aliyah usually went to kibbutzim and through that moved from the world movement to the Kibbutz movement or to the Israeli movement others did it as individuals. Today our Olot*im are all alone as there is no Kibbutz to accept them. In our daily work we try to promote the movement and all of its members by evaluating the reality and analyzing it through Hashomer Hatzair's ideological prism. Hashomer Hatzair takes responsibility over the present and future of Israel, we look critically on the situation: that includes striving to end the conflict, promoting peace while ensuring equal rights for all people in Israel and realizing that Israel needs protection and without the IDF there is no future to Israel. We believe that with a strong support system, close counseling and a peer group (Kvutza) living on a Kibbutz, our participants will get the best possible structure to critically look at their new lives and be actors of change.
